TikTok & Why aren't Postcards enough?!?

TikTok isn't only for teens you know. This month alone, #TikTok had 1 billion users!


Obviously...

you know what social media is, but are you aware of which platforms do what? And YES! Postcards and good old door-to-door tactics are still handy (and may make a comeback post-COVID-19), but why not grab the low-hanging fruit before you throw on your best shoes and walk around your ideal seller's market.


TikTok, compared to the other major Social Media platforms, is a baby on serious steroids. It's about four years old and a marketing powerhouse.


TikTok offers users the ability to create and share short-form videos from fifteen seconds to three minutes. The platform customizes a video feed for users based on an algorithm.




As you can see, your target market IS ON THERE! not only that, but compared to other platforms, TikTok has the highest engagement ratios. This means users are actively looking for content, specifically from influencers.


Here's the good stuff:

  • More eyes on your property than traditional marketing.

    • TikTok's unique algorithm may make it easier for #Realtors to reach a larger audience faster than other platforms.


  • Easily produce content that converts, regularly

    • Producing content may be easier than TikTok's built-in editor makes creating videos simple; this makes it an attractive option for busy Realtors to create regular, short content

    • You can record and edit directly from the app or upload pre-recorded content easily. Apply filters (which works great with the TikTok algorithm), apply trending music and even voiceovers.



Here are some things to consider:

  • No guarantee that your video is being shown within your location

    • Although there are more eyeballs on your content, there's no guarantee that your video is being shown to those who would be your ideal buyers or sellers. For example, if you're based in Nashville, Tennesse, having your video viewed more in Canada may not be helping you reach your goals right away.


  • Staying on top of trends can be overwhelming

    • But so important! TikToks that include trending hashtags, trending music, trending filters will have the greatest "it" factor in TikToks algorithm and will have a greater chance of going viral.

  • Time-consuming

What does this mean? It means:

  • Make your content short and to-the-point- full stop!

  • ALWAYS have a call to action - follow me for more, comment below, like and share this video, etc.

  • Use trending music (under 1 MIL uses), and use relevant hashtags

It seems to me that any business is attracted to tik tok, because it helps to solve a number of marketing tasks without serious investments. That is, you can simply upload a video file to the video editor, add trending sound, apply effects, and there is already a chance that a large number of people will watch your video
